Hyundai Accent Now Available With LPG
As eco-friendly cars gain more currency in the Indian car market, more car manufacturers are launching environment friendly products. Hyundai Motors, which has been on the forefront of this drive, has launched a LPG variant for its popular sedan Accent. The new variant is called Accent Eco – that is synonymous with its pollution free ways.
Hyundai Motors is the second largest car manufacturer in India. The Santro CNG and LPG variants are already in the Hyundai portfolio. By adding a LPG variant to the Accent range, Hyundai has propositioned a low cost vehicle for its consumers. Consumers who like the comfort of a three-box vehicles but do not like the high cost of maintenance will like Accent Eco.
Hyundai has fitted the LPG kit to an existing 1.5 litre petrol engine. A fast moving 5-speed manual transmission tamed with the engine. A simple act of switching on a button located on the dash will change the power source from petrol to LPG and vice-versa. Hyundai Motors has fitted the Accent Eco with a 27.2 litre LPG tank and there is a 45 litre petrol tank for those who want a longer driving range. The LPG system comes equipped with an engine immobilizer as a standard fitment for enhanced security of passengers in case of a gas leak or malfunction.
The LPG system has been certified by the Department of Explosives (DOE) and the Automotive Research Authority of India (ARAI), country's premier automobile testing and certifyin
g authority. In order to ensure high level of safety, Hyundai has devised stringent tests, wherein the LPG kit undergoes leakage detection test thrice before it is passed on to the consumer. A special filler cap inside the LPG lining that prevents wear and tear of the parts.
All these measures ensure that passengers have the safest ride in Hyundai Accent Eco. This will be a merit that will drive up sales of Accent in the future. The bi-fuel new Accent is priced at Rs 5,33,900, which makes its slightly costlier by Rs 34,900 compared to the petrol version. However, the price can be conveniently recovered byway of low running costs and cheaper maintenance expenditure. The LPG system alone enjoys a two year warranty period.
Another advantage that cannot be overlooked in Accent Eco is the ample storage space. The LPG system has been fitted in a unique 'Toroidal' design that allows a large room for cargo storage in the boot. The intelligent use of space which does not interfere with the comfort of rear passenger and the storage space, is going to be one major advantages over smaller cars. Most small cars in India get LPG kits fitted in aftermarket, which consumes the whole of the cargo compartment. Hyundai has taken care to keep in mind the comfort of passengers while delivering power and performance that equals petrol cars.
