Seven Top Getaways Vacations For Busy People

  By AI Editor

Vacations are hard to get by for a growing number of busy people and this includes not just business owners but housewives and ordinary employees. If work, school or home life does not allow you to have long vacations, then a 3-day getaway is the best vacation option for you. Arrange one weekend to simply sit back and relax or do some fun activities with family or friends.

Now, that you are all excited about taking a much-needed break, the obvious question is where to go. Here are some top destinations for a quick but worthwhile vacation.

For those in the northeast region, get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city and head to Bear Mountain State Park in New York. Nature lovers will certainly fall in love with the breathtaking views in this park that is just a short distance from New York City.

Be surrounded by trees and mountain ranges. The Appalachian Trail cuts through here as well as the Hudson River through the park’s valley. You can stay at the Bear Mountain Inn with a great view of the Hessian Lake for a truly relaxing vacation. Some activities you can do here include hiking, swimming, biking and boating. You can also visit the Bear Mountain Zoo and the neighboring Harriman State Park.

If you are looking for an island vacation in the deep Southern region, a sure delight would be Jekyll Island just off Brunswick’s coast. Because a good portion of the island is still untouched by modern developments, Jekyll Island has kept its island paradise feel that has captivated many successful businessmen who often vacation here. Of course, the island features good accommodation, shops, and restaurants but the place is not crawling with them. There are so many things to do here like fishing, biking, horseback riding, and just relaxing.

Other options in this region include the upscale Amelia Island, just off Florida’s coast, which has golf courses, spas, fine dining, and pristine beaches and there is also the charming city of Savannah in Georgia, where you can experience what Southern hospitality is all about.

For adventuresome folks who would like to really experience the great outdoors during their getaway instead of just relaxing in the beach or the hotel, go to Medora in North Dakota and a camp at a place called the Sully Creek State Recreational Area. This place is budget-friendly and will satisfy your yearning for the outdoors. Hike along canyon trails and lonesome mountains or go fishing and kayaking.

For an even more rugged vacation, the place to go to is Hells Canyon National Recreational Area in the edges of Idaho and Oregon and spanning the Snake River. It has more than 600,000 acres of picturesque landscape of forests and mountains. The popular things to do here are white water rafting, hiking, rock climbing, and trekking. If you venture deep into the area, you might be able to get a glimpse of deer, bighorn sheep, elks, and black bears. You have the option to camp out in Hells Canyon or stay in town.

For busy moms and dads, Indianapolis is a great place to spend some quality time with your young children. You will find here the largest children’s museum in the world so you can easily spend the whole day just exploring it. The Indianapolis Zoo is also another fun place to visit with family with its newly opened underwater dolphin-watching feature, the Dolphin Dome. If your kids are 14 years old or older, all of you can even swim with the dolphins.

With all the great suggestions above, you will be out of your doorway and headed to your 3-day vacation in no time. Keep in mind that everyone needs a break from time to time and if you have not had a vacation for some time now, do yourself a favor and go to even just one destination above and you will not be disappointed.
