Benaras is one of the leading silk weaving centers of India. The heavy weight Benarasi silk sari with its shimmer and hue is a must companion a woman on her D day in Bengal. Maharashtra, famous for its paithani silk has created a name for itself in the sartorial domain. The pride of Gujarat, patola silk is an appreciated fabric, for its hue and pattern, designs and motifs.



On the other hand the contrasting colors of the Chanderi silk. Tussar silk and Maheshwari silk of Madhya Pradesh has delineated the term femininity in the most dignified way. Sambalpuri silk of Orissa and Baluchari of Murshidabad in West Bengal has time and time again silhouetted Indian ness amidst their lustrous appeal. The tale of silk sarees and smart is incomplete without mentioning the heavy silk sarees of South India. Saris from Tanjore, Kanchepuram of Tamil Nadu are famed for their bright colors, heavy pallu and contrasting colors.
